BBQ & Firecooking Workshop
Ever wanted to cook over fire? Perhaps you've mastered the burgers and sausages but want to take your BBQ to the next level. Maybe you've watched chefs creating incredible dishes over flames and wondered where to start, or what equipment you actually need.
Live-fire cooking is one of the oldest and most rewarding ways to prepare food. It's hands-on, instinctive and brings you back to a simple connection with the fire, the ingredients and the people you're cooking with.
During the day we'll explore a wide range of live-fire cooking techniques while preparing a seasonal feast for us all to enjoy together around the fire. Expect plenty of flames, smoke, good conversation and, hopefully, a little bit of charcoal on your hands.
We'll cover everything from lighting and managing a fire to choosing the right fuels and woods. You'll have the chance to cook using a variety of equipment, including our wood-fired brick oven, fire cage, Weber Kettles, Kamado Joe and simple fire pits, while learning techniques that you can easily recreate at home. We'll also look at cast iron cookware, Dutch ovens and potjies, how to look after them and how to get the very best from them.
Come hungry! Your late lunch will be prepared by the group and cooked entirely over fire with plenty to eat along the way. Please let us know of any allergies or dietary requirements at least two weeks before the workshop.
At the end of the day you'll head home with a recipe pack, equipment recommendations, plenty of new ideas and, if we've done things properly, slightly smoky clothes, charcoal under your fingernails and a smile on your face.
2027 workshop dates will be announced in the autumn, with additional dates added throughout the spring as our event calendar is confirmed. If your preferred date isn't available yet, please check back soon or join our mailing list to be the first to hear when new dates are released.
